About Us

Fiona opened the school in March 2011 with just one evening, 6 classes and 42 students. We now offer 50 classes, with around 300 pupils 6 days per week. Throughout this time we have trained students into teachers, have 100% pass rate in exams, created some incredible shows and have watched our students blossom into incredible young people. In 2023 we moved into our very own studios!

Where it all Began

Fiona had always dreamed of owning her own school and becoming an IDTA examiner. After finishing her professional training at Phil Whinston’s Theatre works in Blackpool she ploughed herself into her teacher training exams and opened her own school at 24 years old.

Our Journey

DDA has flourished over the past 12 years with a wonderful community of families. We have built from 42 – 300 students, 3 of which are now qualified dance teachers who have joined our teaching team. We are ecstatic to have been able to move into our very own studio building and we can’t wait to see where this takes us.

Our Values

$

DDA family – every single member of our school old and new will always be a part of our dancing family. We love and support each and every student to help them grow into confident young people.

$
Everyone can dance – our school has an open door policy. Everyone should have a chance to dance! If you want to dance 30 minute a week for fun and fitness or 8 hours a week and train for it as a career, we would love to help you.
$
Nurturing – we believe that love, encouragement, structure and dedication lead to results. Every pupil is important to us and we believe in them! With our staffs encouragement, our students thrive not just in the dance studio but in other areas of their lives too!

Fiona is both passionate and professional and has an ability to instil technique and artistry without compromising on fun and inclusivity. There is a great balance between exams and performance and great friendships formed between students young and old and between parents. DDA really is family affair. Thank you!”
